The original registrar desk designed and carved for the Manti temple. Both legs have hidden doors that open and the front opens up like a writing desk with sections for pens, paper, and other writing materials.
This desk was built for the temple before the dedication in 1888. The desk stayed until 1981 when the church completed a four year renovation project and the desk was replaced. One of the temple workers working on the renovation was given or purchased the desk and held it in his home for almost 50 years until it moved into a private collection.
Appears to be made of a beautiful dark walnut, likely the same material that was used to build the beautiful spiral staircases in the temple.
