Groves of evergreens, snow-swept hillsides, a meandering river, and the warm colors of the sprawling field are shaped beautifully against fading light. Forster’s impressionistic strokes often divert the viewer’s attention to his keen sense of light and color; this wintry landscape is an exemplary case of his talent for capturing a scene in unique colors.
